Museums and heritage on the Belgian coast
Art in Ostend, military structures at Raversyde and fishing in Oostduinkerke offer different ways of understanding the coast.

Three ways of reading the coast
Art in Ostend, military structures at Raversyde and fishing in Oostduinkerke offer different ways of understanding the coast. Choose the subject that interests you first, then verify the exact venue. A museum may continue its activities elsewhere during works, while an estate park can remain open when a heritage route is closed. Treat each part as a separate visit with its own conditions. This makes a cultural day easier to plan without relying on assumptions.
Mu.ZEE: use the exhibition address
Mu.ZEE's main Romestraat building in Ostend is closed for renovation, with reopening planned for 2028. Exhibitions continue elsewhere, including the Venetian Galleries. Choose from the current programme and use the exhibition address. Old Romestraat opening times are not valid visitor information for that temporary venue.

Raversyde: distinguish heritage route and park
Atlantikwall Raversyde covers batteries Aachen and Saltzwedel-neu. Its heritage route has seasonal opening, while the estate park is accessible year-round. Aachen can be visited with an accompanied wheelchair or pushchair; Saltzwedel-neu requires different arrangements, including a baby carrier for infants. Dogs are excluded from the heritage route except guide dogs; the park permits dogs on a lead. Check the official page for your particular needs and the current calendar before travelling.
Leave enough time for the chosen visit
A last-entry time is earlier than closing time. Do not use the closing hour as an arrival target. Begin with the visitor route you most want to see and keep a walk as an optional addition. If different members of the group have different access needs, ask the venue which parts can be shared and where an alternative is needed. An attractive park photo does not describe the surface or access inside a heritage route.
NAVIGO: explore fishing lives
In Oostduinkerke, NAVIGO covers fishing work and the families who lived from it. Its North Sea aquariums, fisherman's house and OD 1. Martha boat vary the visit. Read current official visitor information when planning a family outing. A horseback fishing demonstration needs a separate calendar check. Choose one main visit and prepare travel with our coastal tram guide. Before booking, check the price for your visitor category and the day's opening directly with the institution.
